General Compliance

Driver Training – OECS, Inc. customizes training specific to your company’s needs. Our DOT training provides interaction with the drivers to help them have a clear understanding of compliance requirements with an easy to understand approach. Your drivers require training and need to understand the expectations placed upon them by both the DOT and company policy.

Driving Logs – We assist the carrier in making sure proper documentation is maintained to show regulatory agencies that drivers are not operating a commercial/motor vehicle in excess of allowed hours. We help your drivers understand how to properly document their Hours of Service. Fatigue is a leading cause in a commercial driver being involved in an accident.

Vehicle Inspections – OECS, Inc. will instruct drivers on what to look for and how to document issues during vehicle inspections. Most drivers understand they must inspect their vehicle. Unfortunately, most drivers don’t perform a complete inspection. We will assist the carrier in writing a maintenance program for all vehicles and trailers.

DOT Driver Qualification File Reviews – A carrier will at some time undergo a complete DOT Regulatory Audit. More frequently, issues are found on road side inspections. Are you prepared? Are your files complete? OECS, Inc. will review your DOT records and make recommendations to the carrier on items that need improvement. OECS, Inc. will assist the carrier in establishing proper recordkeeping processes to help streamline time spent by employees on DOT issues. When the DOT comes knocking, the carrier will know what to expect and how to be prepared.

Drug and Alcohol Requirements

There is lot of confusion on when a DOT Drug and Alcohol program and employee training is needed. A Drug and Alcohol program is needed when a truck has a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lbs or greater; a vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers; or vehicles of any size that is used to transport hazardous material which require the vehicle to be placarded.

OECS, Inc. will develop a DOT Drug and Alcohol program that will include policy, operational implementation, employee responsibilities, employer’s responsibilities in hiring drivers, drug and alcohol information, Supervisor’s “How To” manual, Supervisor’s two hour drug and alcohol awareness training so to be in compliance with current regulations and standards.

Hazardous Materials

US DOT regulations require any employee who works in shipping, receiving, or material handling area, or transporting hazardous material to be trained and periodically retained. Required training modules include the following: Hazardous Material Table, Shipping Papers, Markings and Labeling, Placarding, Packaging and Carrier Requirements on Land.

OECS, Inc. will evaluate a client’s need in relation to what the Hazardous Material regulations require. We will tailor training and compliance to maximize the client’s return on employee training. Training is conducted on premise.

DOT Homeland Security Plan (DHS)

This regulates the security of high-risk chemical facilities in the United States. The companies that fall under this category are required to complete security vulnerability assessments, develop site security plans, and implement risk based measures designed to satisfy DHS-defined risk based performance standards.
